Bye bye, 2011 :)

Year 2011.

A small retrospective.

With one sentence – it was a good year! (Especially when compared to the disaster of the year that was 2010 :) I have made a little retrospective of what this ending year looked like, mainly (as usual) seen through the camera eye.

Speaking of eyes...

... almost identical pair right there. :)

The winter

of 2011, oh yes. It was cold, and very, very snowy. Both in Estonia...

... as well as in Finland.

The beginning of the year, and I mean literally - the first night of the year - was quite memorable. At the New Year's night, we managed to break two champagne glasses. With one kick of a leg. Simultaneously, and completely accidentally. I think that is what set the overall tone for the upcoming 2011 - broken glass brings lots of luck. :)

Trips to Helsinki (and trips to Tallinn, which were made more often) were a struggle... Cold late night ferry boats, walks to the port in the middle of snow walls. It was pretty, too, of course. I remember Jan-Erik making snow angels on frozen Töölö Bay. Remember, when my parents were stuck in the snow with their car and couldn't get moving. The snow was nice, but maybe in the beginning of the year there was a bit too much of it.

Spring -

I have the fewest photos from. Mayhaps the Easter - photo quality is something to be desired for...

Painting chocolate eggs - I remember the surprise as I was used to painting the "normal" eggs. But, these were the choko eggs covered with REAL egg shells! I had never seen anything like that before. Life is full of small miracles.

Summer

was good! Midsummer's Day (days, to be preciser) in kesämökki, the Song Festival in Tallinn, swimming in the sea around the rocky Pihlajasaari Island. Boat trips, bike trips, water, nomfoods. Preparing to move to another country. Taking Robert out on the leash for the very first time! :) The little dude had an adventure.

The duck family seen in Helsinki city centre at the weekend of Midsummer's. They were crossing the road - mother in front, ducklings prancing behind. My heart was aching, leaving them there on the street (did not manage to get hold of any animal organisations through phone), but big was the surprise when we saw the same duck family in the evening news! :) Apparently, they had been escorted to the Töölö Bay nearby by a bunch of people.

A lake (one of the thousands, if you believe the people who have counted all the lakes in Finland) at Midsummer's night, the shortest night of the year.

And an odd couple of a hobbit and an elf in the middle of the woods :)

Ah, there was also a beautiful day that summer, under the code name "The Tourist Almost Died!" It was a day when Helsinki looked especially beautiful in its summer clothes.

Lots of stuff happened in autumn.

Yep, bye bye, Tallinn. I moved in with your neighbour.

First photo of our new home street. Mammu and Robert got pet passports for the ferry ride. :)

A very special day - if I may say so, as I really felt that this year. It included a train ride, big pile of gifts (topped with The Gift of new Canon) and teis-tiii dinner. Up in the 10+ floor. :) Yes, definitely a special day.

And again, winter. Complete opposite this time - snowless and warm. The black Christmas (but what does it matter if there is so much light around). Light from the candles and light from life itself. The unbearable lightness of being, as was once phrased by a great author. I have found some peace of mind in myself in this year that is now about to end. I am not there yet, but it is a good start. I very much hope it continues in the next year *crosses fingers*. Some doors have been closed, and new ones have been pushed open. I wish everyone a HAPPY! new year, and may (at least some of ;) your wishes come true :)
